March 26-29 the food and beverage kings of the world will convene in Barcelona, Spain for Alimentaria, one of the most important food expos, featuring over 4,000 international vendors in the sector. It is estimated that over 140,000 visitors will take part in the fair, sampling and learning of products, services and food trends from an expected representation of 75 countries.

Alimentaria will include roughly 14 mini-exhibitions or sections, for example, "Olivaria" olive oil, "Interlact" for milk and dairy products, "Mundidulce" sweets and confectionery, "Intervin" filled with wine and spirits reps, "Ecological & Organic Food", "Expoconser" for preserved products such as those of Porto Muiños - a Galician brand specializing in fresh, dried, canned and even powdered seaweeds from the Atlantic coast of Spain -  and ¨Restaurama¨ relating specifically to the hospitality industry.

Aside from international purveyors, specialty products from Spain's autonomous communities will be represented; you can count on Juan Luis Royuela of La Cabezuela, Reyno Gourmet (quality products from Navarra) and my favorite jamón in the world Joselito being there.

The trade fair is open to the public and you can purchase a day pass for 60€ or the entire event for 85€ at the door or online. They will be celebrating its 19th anniversary - the event is biennial - so don't miss the chance this year! Besides it's a fabulous opportunity to take in one of the most beautiful cities on earth (IMHO). Please contact me if you have any questions, will also be visiting and want to sync up, or simply need some advice for eating and drinking when in BCN.
