Well if you didn't recognize his friendly demeanor, aging tanned arms, and of course his very cool Andalusian hat, then you wouldn't be the only one. But, Antonio del Mar is a legend in his own community. Having a passion for his work and a sprightly nature, this restless soul - who is easily at retirement age but refuses to give in- has for some 40 + years dedicated himself to selling his hand-fried, hand-salted, hand-packed marcona almonds to locals, vacationing French, Nigerian immigrants, dog walkers and drug dealers in perfect harmony right alongside the Mediterranean. 

Marcona may spell luxury for some of you, but Antonio del Mar keeps his prices as fair as his work, and at 1 euro a pop (I don't think he has given into the rise of the IVA), it's an apertif, snack or merienda that all can afford to splurge on. 

Almendras Marcona. Marcona almonds, a delight of Southern Spain. 

Look for him among the chiringuitos (beach bars) and espeto restaurants (outdoor sardine grills) of Malaga's shoreline (specifically in the barrio of El Palo).
